| Hippie Lore part ONE |
| Peace Love and Flower Power |

But who didn't know that? Where were you 40 or so years ago April 22nd, the first Earth Day? I was in 8th grade and so ready to escape my strict catholic school for the rumored freedom of public high school. I remember listening to the Beatles "White Album" hour after hour & watching sit-ins on TV talking about music, love earth & flowers, the end to killing, war, pain and selfishness. I thought that's right, that's what I believed my religion to be, why were all the adults so turned off by it? And why didn't I see it happening anywhere else except on TV? I don't remember much peace and love sharing from the priests & nuns however I do remember a lot of threats and fear building. I learned those lessons well which did not prepare me for high school temptations. I wanted to meet hippies and flower children. Being a hippie seemed the natural thing to do. To enjoy all life had to offer, have fun, lay in a field, love each other, show compassion, give freely and walk in peace. It has been forty years, since the first Earth Day in 1970 and still many cannot find a good enough reason to get on board either the Love or Peace train. Why not? Money? Fear? Insecurity? Ego? Messed up priorities and broken hearts for sure. Sad Fact is all this time has gone by and our natural resources have been drained silly in most areas of the world and have reached deathly lows in others. In some not-so-distant neighborhoods of our earthly home there are people, through no fault of their own, who've already lost access to clean water, viable breathing air, sustainable food & suitable medical care, all of which we tend to take for granted unless we experience the loss first hand. Many of us have chosen to be missing links in the Chain, forgetting our true hippie lore and fundamental connection to each other, to earth, to life cannot be broken no matter if some of us want to feel seperate or not. Earthlinked as we are, the choices we make or fail to consider directly impact ourselves, our children, our world & the future of all life. The Hippies were right, we are not alone and we can all win when we stand as one, when we focus our collective energy on true sustainability for all life: Creating a Peaceful loving balance of society, environment & green economy Sedating ourselves with denial has had too many dangerous side effects too list on any bottle. Cheers! To the Sober truth that still gets me high, we are ONE with all that seems wrong & right at once. "He is me and she is he and we are all together, Cu Cu Ka Chu" (John Lennon) We are more powerful than we admit it's always time to be... ***Full On Love*** ***Full on Peace*** ***Full on Powerful*** ***Full on One*** In Love and Possibilities Kathy |
